Favourites: Sebastiano Ricci's 'The Fall of the Rebel Angels'

Sebastiano Ricci Fall of Rebel AngelsDavid Tsang picks his favourite painting at Dulwich Picture Gallery

It’s angelic and barbaric in one. It’s quite shocking, quite harsh really. If you look at the top half it’s almost a ballet with a sword, then underneath it’s quite violent, the angels turning into ugly beasts with claws, being driven away.

  1. This is a great painting – look at the hand outlined against the angel’s shield. Good choice, David!
