Favourites: Local artist, Tess Barnes chooses Rembrandt's little girl

Tess Barnes self portrait

My absolute favourite painting in Dulwich Picture Gallery is the fantastic Rembrandt portrait of the little girl…on a protruding wall in, I think, the first room on left…wonderful…I can’t drag myself away!!…I adore Rembrandt his skill is humbling!! and it totally relates to my exhibition as ever since my Chelsea foundation years he has had such a great influence on me and my pull towards portraiture. It is great to know that this Rembrandt portrait is there, close by, so that I can pop in to gaze and wonder whenever I please!
