Green around the edges

Sellafield nuclear power stationDay 71
Easiest £250 ever: Thought for the sake of completeness I’d wash on 40C, turn lights & appliances off, switch to low energy bulbs, use the dryer less and suddenly I’ve cut our energy consumption by 1/4 without really trying. We’ve saved enough to pay for a week’s accommodation in the Lakes this Autumn. I am quite surprised how easy this bit has been – akin to finding oneself a stone lighter without dieting. If everyone could just do this much we wouldn’t need nuclear power stations. Why isn’t there more government focus on reducing consumption?

Scoreboard: £698 saved so far. Still a massive £1302 to go to hit our 2K target.
Catherine Fraher’s 2008 resolution was to turn darker Green and save £2000 in the process. Constructive criticism and debate most welcome. More
