Meet Kate Knowles, Head of Communications at Dulwich Picture Gallery
I am obsessed by Dulwich Picture Gallery – to such a degree that I am a cracking bore. No friend of mine would DARE not visit the Gallery and at dinner parties I always come away with converts. It’s probably because I’ve worked at Dulwich for 15 years, so it is part of my life. To such an extent that when I go abroad I go into bookshops and check out the travel books on Britain. 15 years ago not one of them mentioned Dulwich Picture Gallery, so I would painstakingly write down the publisher’s address in a little note book and on my return send them everything there was about the Gallery. I have to say, it paid off.
Now I still do it (obsessive or what?) and the glow of gratification when I see the constant mentions of the Gallery makes me crow with self satisfaction.
