As part of The Lion and and The Dragon Exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery, we invite you to submit your stories around the theme of China and all things Chinese and we will publish suitable stories on Dulwich OnView over the summer.
Here are some examples of personal stories we would love to hear about:
# what were your impressions of a visit to China?
# what family stories can you tell about living in China or about being Chinese?
# what aspects of Chinese culture do you love?
# what is your favourite Chinese recipe or restaurant?
# etc
These are just ideas to inspire you so if you have other stories around the theme of China and all things Chinese, we’d love to hear those, too! You can share your experiences and stories via writing, photos, illustrations/ art (in the form of jpg photos), audio podcasts or online video. (You don’t have to live in Dulwich to take part – and you don’t have to be Chinese either!)
Please read our Submissions Guidelines for how to make submissions and for our policy on content. We are looking for stories that celebrate people and culture – no political content will be accepted.
We will aim to publish suitable stories within 2-3 weeks of submission. The closing date for this Open Submission is 31 August 2008.
To send in your submission or find out more contact us by email at dulwichonview[at]googlemail.com (substituting @ for [at]).
To start off this project, you can read a personal story by Dulwich OnView co-editor Yang-May Ooi about her great-great-grandfather who ran away from China to settle in Malaya over a hundred years ago in the story The Runaway Boy.
