Supercalifrajilisticexpialidocious!

If you’ve spotted the silhouette of a female figure flying over the skies of Dulwich recently, complete with handbag and umbrella, you may have realised that Mary Poppins is coming to the village.

The movie is being shown on a huge outdoor screen at the Gallery on 21 August by GalleryFilm, the film club organised by the Friends of DPG.

It’s part of a programme of late night openings at the Gallery which now runs throughout the year.

Doors open at 6.30pm.

Either come along for a picnic with friends and enjoy the garden or have supper in the gallery cafe. There’ll be a cheap bar and music and then the film starts at 8.20pm. Get ready for:

A spoonful of sugar
Chim chim cher-ee
Feed the birds
Let’s go fly a kite
Step in time

… and many other favourites, including one of my favourite jokes ever about a man with a wooden leg named Smith.

What better way to spend a Thursday evening that with a glass of wine and one of the finest films for all the family? (Singing along will be encouraged, but not mandatory.)

If you enjoy film and are a member of Facebook then join the GalleryFilm group.

  1. It didnt rain! And there were some lovely Mary Poppins look- alikes. Great kites were made in the art room too. Thanks to all those who came along and to GalleryFilm for putting it on.
