Entrance to Dulwich Picture Gallery is very reasonable today.

I wonder if it was expensive to get in during the 1870s?

The guest is confirmed by Vincent's letter to friends 3 days later - he came to the Gallery 'with one of the Germans' (there were two Germans staying at his lodgings). He mentions elsewhere that he will have to stop going places with them, because they are big spenders, and he can't afford it.

From this week's editor:
Its the dark writing which is in focus. There is a dark 'horizontal' line on the left of the picture, then Hvvangogh all joined. There is a small 2 after his name. Presumably he brought a guest.
The signature underneath seems to be PG Standi??g.
No wonder it was difficult to find!
