Quizzing Time

We’re constantly being reminded that a good way to keep mental degeneration at bay in later life is to keep our brains active now.

Crosswords, sudoku, mental riddles and conversations with members of the Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery are all good ways to keep your grey matter in shape.
question-markAnd if you need any further mental exercise, it’s that time of year once again to don your finest, velvet-lined thinking cap and head over to the FDPG annual quiz. It’s taking place at the Gallery on Saturday night – 15th November.

We ran a series of articles about local pub quizzes earlier in the year at The Gowlett, SE15, The Clockouse, SE22, The Sun and Doves, SE5, The Plough, SE22 and The Magdala, SE22 (now known as the Magnolia). Note: the regular Sunday evening quiz has moved to The Herne, near Peckham Rye.
The Friends quiz isn’t in a pub though – it’s in the beautiful setting of the Gallery enfilade, surrounded by the works of the grand masters.

Dulwich OnView have put together an expert team and will be fielding questions on the evening, so if you’re going along we’ll see you there. In the meantime, we’ll be getting on with our revision. We’ll be scouring the newspapers to make sure we are up to date on current affairs and will be swotting up on the dates of kings and queens, Prime Ministers, US presidents (past, present and even future) and perhaps some local history as well.

Who knows what’ll come up. We think we’ve got a pretty good team between the five of us.

Come and say hello if you’re there on the evening.

  1. The DOV team, The Luvvie Dovvies, did spectacularly well at the quiz night last night – we came bottom! How embarrassing is that…!

It was a really tough quiz, but great fun. I can’t believe we came last though.

Well done to those who finished in better positions than us – you must be really clever.
