Kevin's Christmas Stretches

Welcome back to Kevin’s fitness tips from Push Studios.

The Christmas season is a time when we find it difficult to stick to routines, especially with all the Xmas parties, and friends and work dos.

It’s a good idea to keep mobile though, so this month we are going to concentrate on some stretches you can do while you are watching TV.

We are going to do a hamstring stretch, a lower back stretch and a neck stretch as these areas can get quite tight and tense when you are leading a sedentary lifestyle.

Cobra stretch

Cobra stretch

1. Ham String Stretch
Lying on your back, slowly bend one leg with the foot on the floor and raise the other one in the air at 90 degrees to the floor. Gently pull it towards you. Hold for 30 seconds.  Then the other one and repeat this two more times.

Sitting stretch

2. Cobra Stretch
This exercise helps release tension that accumulates in the lower back. Lie on your stomach with your hands underneath your chest. Push up on your hands arching back and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat once.

3. Sitting Stretch
This exercise will relieve tension in the neck area.
Clasp hands behind the head. Bring your neck and chin down and round your shoulders and then bring your elbows towards each other.

Keep these going over the Christmas period and you will be ready for the New Year, a time for new exercise regimes and fitness goals.

Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Kevin.
