Hi, my name’s Erica Green and I run Green Light Lifestyles. I’m a local personal trainer and lifestyle consultant working in the hearts of Dulwich and Crystal Palace.

In the meantime …
Our hearts are in need of constant and devoted attention in the form of exercise and protection. As a muscle it requires regular workouts and needs to be nourished with a healthy diet whilst being shielded from harmful substances such as cigarette smoke, pollution, excess alcohol and other toxins.
There are 1,440 minutes in each day, how hard can it be to find a minimum of 30 of them to put aside for health and wellbeing of your heart? As we swoon towards Valentines Day take a hand-on-heart moment to see if you can find any wellness windows of opportunity?
Perhaps you could ….
♥ Wake up ½ an hour earlier and get moving – stop hitting the “snooze” button, Sarah Kennedy really is as good as they say!
♥ Take a brisk ½ hour walk after work before heading home – call ahead for someone else to pre-heat the oven or start recording your fix of Rupert Penry-Jones or Gregg Wallace!
♥ Exercise whilst watching TV or listening to the radio – food programmes or the Archers might not be the most motivational choices! Crime thrillers and comedy tend to get the heart rate up more effectively.
♥ Plan an active weekend such as a pub walk – if the walk is less than 4 miles you can only stop for a quick drink, if the walk is over 4 miles you can stay for lunch. It’s all about balance.
♥ Take the stairs option whenever you can – apologies for those of you who work in Canary Wharf!
♥ Arrange your lunch hours: ½ exercising to ½ eating – remember to take deodorant and some wet wipes!
♥ Schedule exercise into your diary as you would a facial or ski holiday – “exercise is something to look forward to” – now there’s a mantra if ever I heard one!
Just as our hearts maintain a regular, steadfast rhythm, so should we with our healthy living regimes.
Get to the heart of the matter this year and stay healthy.
