February is cold, is windy, is winter. It sometimes even snows in London. It’s been a long time since last summer and there’s a long way to go ’til this summer. Time to wrap up, snuggle up and light a fire.

Then there’s Valentine’s Day, when we’re supposed to warm ourselves up with love and passion. However, as classic romantic drama goes, love is never easy, our loved one may not be with us  and therefore we can but yearn and writhe in uncomfortable emptiness. The other side of the world, or just a couple of miles away, missing is painful.

However, we can close our eyes and feel the very essence of that very person in our heart and soul.  Up close, osmosed in through our skin, to the point of almost being consumed. Lovely.

A thought, a wish, a message to be carried by the wind. A kiss, a whisper.

I performed Kiss the Wind at the Late opening at Dulwich Picture Gallery in July 2008

The Monochord

This song features a drone (with subtle harmonics and overtones) throughout which is played on a monochord. This instrument was devised by Swiss therapist and healer, Joachim Marz after studying music and mysticism in India. We each made our own 36 string monochord over a weekend workshop during a three year course in 1991 with the TAMA – DO Academy - a  diploma in the healing arts exploring  vibrational energy via sound, colour and movement.

LYRICS to Kiss the Wind

Oh my love it’s sad that you’re not here

’cause you’re very dear to my heart

Oh my love it’s sad that you’re not here

but you’re very near tho we’re apart

And though it seems we’re many miles away and I can’t be with you today

I have captured your essence, and in this instance, i experience your heart

Oh my love it’s sad that you’re not here

’cause you’re very dear to my soul

oh my love it’s sad that you’re not here

’cause this emptiness grows cold

we may as well be many lives apart

it’s  just a fragment of the whole

but i have captured your essence, and in this instance,

i experience your soul

I’ll kiss the wind and I’ll send to him all of my love (x4)

and when i close my eyes- i see him

when i think of him – I’m with him

the more and more i think of him

I’m with him, I feel him, i breathe him in

kiss the wind, I’ll kiss the wind and send to him all of my love…..

all of my love, all of my love i’m sending

like a kiss, like a whisper, like a whisper in the wind
