This loo probably has the best view in London (for a loo), if not the best urban view in the world. From the seat you can see the O2 Arena, Canary Wharf, past Big Ben and the London Eye to Crystal Palace.
It’s the loo for the sculpture exhibition recently opened on the roof of Peckham multi storey car park, Bold Tendencies III. With curtains for doors you have to sing to indicate you are in there. A bin with some water is as the basin.
The show is organised by the nearby Hannah Barry Gallery. (DOV articles about it). Young local sculptors have created site specific installations for this magnificent setting. It is inspired.
There is a café up there too, Frank’s Café and Campari Bar, with a stunning red canopy roof, designed by recent architecture graduates Paloma Gormley and Lettuce Drake. The chef, Frank, was trained at the Anchor and Hope (amazing gastro pub in Waterloo). It has really delicious and cheap food. I loved the grilled vegetables with anchovy dressing (£5.50).
The café canopy, the sunset, the light on the sculptures and my Campari cocktail – (Americano – Campari, Vermouth, Soda – £4) – everything was red the evening I went.

what a lovely idea and the view does indeed look great. i’d feel a bit better if the loo had a lock though!
It sounds rather wonderful! Time to sample the Peckham skyline over a cocktail.
