Dance, Architecture and Furniture

Artists, opera singers, illustrators, gallery owners, actors, and now a professional photographer. The skills and talents of the attendants at Dulwich Picture Gallery never cease to amaze.

We continue our series of the other lives of the attendants and assistants at Dulwich Picture Gallery[slideshow id=1513209474821478741&w=426&h=320]

Fulvio Rubesa is a familiar face, having worked for some time as a part-time Gallery attendant. He has another very important life though – one that revolves around his love of photography.

At the Gallery Fulvio is also the Picture Librarian, licensing photographic images of the paintings to various users, mostly in the publishing industry. But, most interestingly, he is an accomplished photographer himself and has already provided the gallery with several of his eye-catching images of the famous Sir John Soane building, including one that is on sale this year as a Christmas card in the gallery shop. Furthermore, Dulwich Picture Gallery has just launched an exciting new publication dedicated to the gallery’s collection of furniture, which, in addition to the text written by Sarah Moulden, features a good number of photographs taken by Fulvio.

Fulvio trained at the London College of Communication, completing an MA Course in Photography in 2004 and has been freelancing for many years. His main areas of interest are dance, portraiture and, of course, museums – the arts and heritage environment.

Apart from his gallery images, the pictures presented here range from his collaboration with dance companies and choreographers, up to the recent dance performance at Dulwich Picture Gallery, in conjunction with The Polish Connection exhibition.

Fulvio is working towards mounting a new exhibition of his work in 2010.
