The short answer is yes! Dig around a little and you’ll find Dulwich residents tripping various light fantastics, from Scottish to Rock and Roll via jazz dance, kids ballet, and ballroom.
Alternate Tuesdays sees a goodly crowd exercising muscles and brains in sociable Scottish dancing at the Village Hall, sometimes with party nights with live music and picnics.
Even more energetic are Monday’s jive classes upstairs at the Railway Tavern by Tulse Hill station with monthly jive parties. On Halloween the Diamond Jive Club will be hosting a Huge Halloween club night with guest Djs Miss Aloha & Co.. They will be playing Jiving classics and mixing it up with some fun spookie numbers too. Prizes for best dancers and best dressed.

Then there are beginners’ ballroom classes on Tuesdays at St Stephens Church in College Road, and classes for every level from beginners to competition standard most nights at the Grafton Ballroom in Village Way.
Children are well catered for too, so well that there’s no space to mention them all so just Google children’s dance classes in Dulwich and see what comes up…..
Dance is the most sociable and varied form of exercise; there’s really no excuse to sit at home and moan that swimming is boring, running ruins the joints, and British winters are too wet and windy for tennis. Get out and have fun!
