'Come Dine With Me' in Dulwich

Last month I spotted a brief note in Dulwich OnView about the Channel 4 show “Come Dine with Me” which said the producers were looking for participants from SE London. Jokingly, I showed it to my husband who loves cooking and, without telling me, he rang up and offered himself.

The result? He was shortlisted, there were interviews by the production team, tours of the house with them and a camera, and then the news that he had been chosen to be one of the four cooks.

Until he was shortlisted he had never even seen the show. A flurry of watching followed, with increasing nerves: never mind the criticism of his cooking, could he stand up to the baiting!

I shall now be a cooking widow for four consecutive nights and, having cleaned, tidied the whole house (they like to show viewers around!) and made sure there are flowers in all the important places, I am being banished from the house for the whole of today as it’s his turn to cook and entertain.

And I don’t even get to eat the result….
