Finding Conservation

by Kate Knowles, Head of Communications at Dulwich Picture Gallery

Dulwich Picture Gallery’s display called Desperately Seeking Conservation has resulted in two paintings being adopted – and more than a thousand pounds was put into the little contributions box in the exhibition room.

The paintings that were adopted are Portrait of a Young Woman (Italian School), which was adopted at a cost of £8,500 and Musicians, by Mathieu Le Nain, which was £7,200. Aren’t people generous!

The Friends are still fundraising for St Cecilia, and have raised over £12,500 so far. Still a way to go – we need a further £18,000 to conserve this very damaged painting.
