In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang‘s 8 piece live band met up on an island off the Danish coast.
The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations. Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and their own parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their album Magic Chairs.
The band then invited fans and organisations to host free screenings of “An Island” around the world during February and March 2011. Thousands took this up all over Australia, NZ, the US, East and West Europe, even Kuala Lumpur, Rio and Guadalajara. Dulwich Picture Gallery is one such place.
GalleryFilm is screening ‘An Island’ on Monday 7 March at 8pm. There is a pay bar and food from 7.30pm.
AND – JUST ARRANGED – 2 bands will be playing after the film:
The Last Dinosaur and Emily and the Woods.
Tickets are free but very limited, if you want to come along e-mail: efterklang.dulwich@gmail.com
