The First Herne Hill market

This Sunday, 1 July, saw the first Herne Hill market on the semi-pedestrian bit in front of Herne Hill station, at the top of Railton Road.

There was a wide variety of stalls, organic, sometimes biodynamic fruit and veg, rare breed meat, organic bread, cheese… and some craft and second hand stalls too.

‘London’s oldest organic bakery’My favourite was the home made ice lolly stall. I had a DELICIOUS cucumber, mint and chilli lolly!

The public helped press organic apple juice

Not only food
 Cards and prints

It seemed pretty busy and when I was there.  2 hours before it closed, many of the stalls were nearly sold out.

I never got what this was about…

You could pick up a Shop Local Herne Hill Card where participating traders offer special deals to card holders.

  1. Do you have a fruit tree in your garden? We are conducting a community fruit survey, and would like to know the numbers of fruit trees and the different types within the SE24 and surrounding communities. Please contact us at info@organically-prepared.co.uk, we would like to hear your story.

Shame, was that happening during the day? It looks like a great place. Will check it out another time.

  3. We have a Banana tree (Musa Basjoo) it fruited last year for the second time. It is a clump forming type so there are currently actually 5 trees in various stages of development.
