‘The Help’ to Help Dulwich Helpline

The Bigger Picture Film Club’s October screening celebrates Black History Month and, in partnership with Push Studios, is supporting Dulwich Helpline.

More than just showing films, The Bigger Picture is an integral part of the local community.  Come along on Thursday 18 October to find out more about Dulwich Helpline (‘friendly volunteer support for isolated older people’) from its chair Katharine St John Brooks, eat and drink in the relaxed surroundings of the East Dulwich Tavern and see the ‘heartfelt, hilarious’ film, The Help.

During the civil rights movement of the 1960s, an aspiring young author decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids’ point of view of the white families for which they work and the hardships they go through on a daily basis, so sending shock waves through the community.  ‘Heartfelt, hilarious and the cast is a dream-team topped by Viola Davis.’  Time Out
