On Saturday 19th April, the BMX Radio Challenge took place in the recently renovated BMX Track in Burgess Park.
BMX enthusiasts raced against in each other in finest sunny weather. Spectators were up for a treat as well. They could see adrenaline fuelled races with many fast bends and spectacular jumps, with prizes awarded for the two main races. BMX demos, music and food on offer kept the audience and participants happy throughout the day.
Youngsters who had never tried BMX before, could sign up for a Rock up & Ride session on the day, to try out the sport themselves.
The day was organized by Peckham BMX. After renovation the Burgess Park BMX track had reopened in August 2013. It is one of the largest BMX tracks in the UK.
Anyone interested in trying out BMX themselves, needs to take part in an induction and can come to ongoing Rock up & Ride sessions. For more information on this exciting sport, check out www.PeckhamBMX.co.uk and www.LondonBMX.co.uk.
