A colourful exhibition at a local cafe in East Dulwich

Local illustrator Nicola Pontin is exhibiting some of her recent work at Boulangerie Jade on Lordship Lane.

Nicola is a freelance children’s book author and illustrator. She studied Illustration and Animation at Kingston University and has since worked on many published picture books, her most recent being a series of Ladybird bedtime rhymes based on The Land of Nod.

Nicola grew up in west Wales where she spent a large amount of time drawing so you can imagine her delight when she discovered that she could turn this into a career.  She settled in south east London and now works from her studio in Lewisham, where she uses a variety of mediums and techniques to create her images. Her approach is often traditional, combining mediums such as acrylic, gouache, pastel, pencils and collage to create rich and playful illustrations.

Nicola also juggles shifts at Jade serving up great coffee! She’s worked in the café for almost three years now, when she started it was Lucas but for over a year now has been transformed into Boulangerie Jade. It’s such a lovely place to work, she’s not sure she’ll ever want to leave!

Prints and cards are also available to buy in the café. Pop by for a coffee, cake and to see the colourful illustrations. On until 17 February 2017.
