Dulwich Winterlights at Dulwich Picture Gallery

The Gallery Gardens glow with magical illuminations for the festive period.

From 6-18 December, Dulwich Picture Gallery will re-open at 6pm for WinterlightsThe beautiful gardens has got a seasonal makeover for the first time, as White Light (the designers) brings illuminations to light up the buildings, trails and planting.

As soon as you approach the Gallery Gardens, you notice the magical lights illuminating the building and trees. Once you enter, you’re invited into a magical garden of winter warming colours. The atmosphere is cold, people are jolly – sipping away on mulled wine or hot chocolate and the illuminations get you in the festive spirit.

The trail (no fixed trail route) leads you along winding paths and explosions of colour and light in trees and secluded nooks, with lanterns and bespoke lighting adding to the enchanted atmosphere. There’s also contemporary baroque-inspired Christmas trees, as well as create your own festive family photo at a giant baroque gold frame in the grounds mirroring the Gallery’s collection.

Throughout each evening choirs will perform Christmas classics and families can book in for Christmas storytelling in the Gallery’s charming, Keepers Cottage. Street food and mulled drinks is available from a range of vendors including the Gallery’s own Christmas Cabin.

Over both weekends (10-11 & 17-18) Dulwich Winterlights will host an artisan market bringing over 50 high-quality stalls to the grounds for the perfect Christmas shopping experience.

Dulwich Winterlights is enchanting, beautiful and the perfect way to celebrate Christmas in a new way.
