Ms Blackman,

The piece is by a young artist called Alex Ball, who's work you can find on:

www.alex-ball.com

I'm not sure if the reference is direct, perhaps you could e-mail him - his details are on his website. His works are very small and highly detailed, very beautiful. The images on the website are quite old though unfortunately - he must not have updated in a while!

Hope that helps,

All the best

Very beautiful, thanks! I love this spot in Dulwich very, very much, the Woods are beautiful and both the Allotments are amazing. I've still hanging on to get on one of them.

Great site. We love it.

I remember seeing 'Found Drowned' that at that wonderful Watts Gallery near Guildford, and see what you mean about the similarity. I shall contact the curator of Stain upon the Silence, Chris Page, and ask him to respond in the comment boxes so that all readers can follow this.

What a fabulous little oasis. Grange Lane is lovely; it feels so rural yet you can see the House of Commons, London Eye etc. It was the starting point for our walk to Westminster (see http://dulwichonview.org.uk/2008/05/06/walking-to-westminster/). Great pictures, Sara.

Just looking at the image on this entry, and despite its size, I found the figure to be incredibly reminiscent of G F Watts' 'Found Drowned' which you can find at the Watts Gallery in Compton. Was this a conscious reference? Is there a larger version of this image available? If you can point me in the right direction, I'd love to find out a little more about it.

In case you're interested in 'Found Drowned':

I only just noticed the blue plaque recently when I was on the bus up to Forest Hill. I do love spotting blue plaques whenever I'm walking around. I was also particularly lucky to pick up a first edition of Brer Rabbit only a couple of weeks ago at Deptford Market - truly a good find. I wonder if it's worth anything?!

I came home recently to a disgusting smell in the house. On searching around, I found a fox curled up in my cat's bed! It could only have got in through the cat flap, but seemed much too big to have done so. It has remained a mystery. And I had to wash the bed many times before my distressed cat would return to it.

In my street some small children's shoes have gone missing...the shoes having been kicked off in order to leap into the paddling pool in the garden, and then forgotten by the end of the day...seemingly have been found and dragged off by the foxes and never seen again.
I can just imagine the baby foxes strutting around after dark displaying their fancy new shoes!
