Summer Competition: Repicturing Dulwich Picture Gallery!

Photo Competition 2011

We are delighted to announce our new photographic competition: Repicturing Dulwich Picture Gallery. The aim is simple but challenging: present Dulwich Picture Gallery from a view people my have never seen before! Let your imagination take flight and your photograph could be presented inside one of 30 unique picture boxes created for Dulwich Picture Gallery by Mikey Georgeson and Paul Tecklenberg.

The Idea

Taking inspiration from the visionary architecture of Sir John Soane, these image viewers will harness the daylight to offer the viewer glimpses of the image inside.

You are invited to submit your most inspired photographic visions of the inside and/or outside of Dulwich Picture Gallery. Take unusual photos – details, interesting angles, present the visitor with Dulwich Picture Gallery from a different view…. will visitors recognise your image?

Where will the pictures go?

Your prints, if chosen, will nest inside one of the thirty wooden picture boxes, designed and made by Mikey Georgeson and Paul Tecklenberg, that will hang in the Gallery gardens this summer. Here they can be spotted and investigated by you and your friends. Together we can create an interactive, collaborative vision of Soane’s remarkable building and the Gallery’s collection.

What are the prizes?

All entries will also be displayed on Dulwich OnView and Dulwich Picture Gallery Facebook, and thirty will be selected by Mikey Georgeson and Paul Tecklenberg to be displayed in the picture boxes throughout June, July and August as well as being featured on an accompanying leaflet.

The winning entry, selected by the Gallery’s Director, will be featured in the next What’s On season brochure and the photographer will win 2 tickets for GalleryFilm’s Italian Film Festival (3 films relating to the next exhibition - Twombly and Poussin: Arcadian Painters).

Entries must be submitted by Monday 30 May 2011.

How to enter?
