Pack a bag for Lambeth ‘Suitcase Sale’ in support of Battersea

A Battersea supporter is encouraging Lambeth residents to pack their bags and bring them to a ‘Suitcase Sale’, to raise vital funds for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home on Saturday 5 October.

Lucy Greene, a Rehoming Welfare Assistant at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

Event organiser Harriet Greene has a special connection with the world-renowned charity, as her daughter Lucy works as a Rehoming Welfare Assistant at Battersea’s London centre. Harriet explains: “Ever since Lucy was 15 she wanted to work for Battersea, she even did her work experience at the Home. Lucy has always had a great affinity with animals and it’s wonderful she’s able to enrich the lives of so many dogs and cats. It’s important to give something back to an organisation that does so much.”

To support Battersea, Harriet is organising a ‘Suitcase Sale’ with all profits donated to the rescue. The ‘Suitcase Sale’ will be held in All Saints Church, Lovelace Road, West Dulwich, SE21 8JY, from 2.30pm for participants with suitcases, and 3pm for visitors. The event will finish at 5pm.

Members of public can donate £10 for a suitcase slot to sell items on the day, or donate 50p to attend the event. Visitors can trawl suitcases for vintage treasures and trinkets, try their luck in the raffle, or have an animal portraitist paint their pet.

Miriam Lightbown, Events and Community Manager at Battersea, said: “This is going to be a fun family event to raise money for our dogs and cats. These funds will make a dramatic difference to the work carried out at the Home’s three centres, and allows our staff and volunteers to give love and care to so many animals that deserve new homes.”

Battersea encourages animal lovers to attend the ‘Suitcase Sale’ and raise money for the rescue centre. As a charity that receives no government funding, the Home relies on the generosity of its supporters to fund its care for thousands of lost and abandoned dogs and cats every year.

The ‘Suitcase Sale’ takes place on 5 October from 2.30pm. For further information on Battersea Dogs & Cats Home please visit www.battersea.org.uk.
