Healthy = Happy

2015 can be a year of optimism and accomplishment for you and your health. We all know that overcoming bad habits is very difficult. But getting better health habits is more successful when you enlist the help of your family and friends.

Here are a few simple strategies, that may not be for everyone, so pick and choose the ones that might fit in your life, and give them a try for a new healthier you!

Think positive - Research shows a healthy positive attitude helps build a healthier immune system and boosts overall health. Your body believes what you think, so focus on being positive.

Bye-bye junk food - Having junk food in your house makes it too hard to stick to a healthy diet. If at all possible, toss everything out that’s sugary, fatty, greasy, salty. The best strategy is not having it around.

Find some healthy recipes - There are thousands online. Find one or two to start with, easy ones that don’t take forever to prepare, and go buy the ingredients.

Prepare healthy snacks beforehand - Have healthy things to munch on at home, at work, and for the road. Fresh fruits, chopped veggies, raw nuts and dried fruits are nutritious and filling.

Use social media for motivation - You can use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or your favorite online forums for motivation and tips. Check out some of the previous health articles on Dulwich OnView for inspiration.

Start small - Make one small change on this list, no step needs to be very difficult. Then try another and then another. Each step along the way, you’ll get used it and it will become the norm.

Keep good company - Get your family or friends involved with you when you walk or plan healthier meals. Making healthy changes with a loved one can bring you closer together as well as motivate you.
