The initial masterplan for the site of the Aylesham Centre has been axed, due to backlash from local residents and businesses, over the tower storey planned for the site.
The site was sold by the developer and the new owners Berkley Homes are drawing up plans for the redevelopment of the Aylesham Shopping Centre, Morrison’s supermarket and TfL Bus Station. They will be consulting the public during 2022 with the aim of submitting their planning application by the end of the year.
There will be a workshop, organised by local people (Aylesham Community Action) for local people as an introduction to the site and the issues raised by redevelopment. It is aimed at providing a chance to hear what questions and comments there are from other local people, and helping everyone to be more informed before the developers start asking what locals think of their plans. The workshop will also involve a virtual site visit. This is based on an in-person visit which Aylesham Community Action made to the site in November, and the presentation will show photos of the various parts of the sites they visited.
This workshop is open to the public. But because it is free and designed and organised by local people for other local people who live or work in Peckham, or who visit Peckham town centre as a shopper or user of its services, it is not appropriate for Council staff or representatives or the developers or professionals in the property or development industries.
The workshop will take place on Saturday 22 January 2022, 11:00 – 13:00.
Please note: This is a free online event. Joining instructions, as well as more information about the event will be shared with registered attendees closer to the date.
