Photo Story: The Chopping Block - a new gallery in Peckham

Nestled behind string light adorned shipping containers lies the Chopping Block, an intimate gallery and project space that opened 29 March in partnership with the Sassoon Gallery in Peckham.

The Thursday night launch was abuzz with hip urbanites drinking, catching up and discussing the art in the Chopping Block’s inaugural exhibition, As We Know It. The small show explored ideas of death, destruction, apocalypse and the human “appetite for spectacles of destruction”. Set amongst the shipping containers, exposed brick and industrial matter that composes the space, the apocalyptic theme made perfect sense- and catalyzed many conversations in the process.
